Int+ Membership [OCT TRIAL]
Join us for the October trial run of INT+ Lessons at the Wheat Ridge Studio.
This four-week series is designed to test and fine-tune a new approach to intermediate+ instruction focused on technique, mechanics, musicality, connection, and skill development—not simply learning moves or move sets.
This Is Not a Moveset Class
INT+ is intentionally not focused on teaching large collections of moves or move sets.
Instead, we will use a small amount of material as a framework for exploring how and why Country Swing works—how movement is structured, how connection changes, how rhythm interacts with movement, and how dancers can make intentional choices rather than simply executing memorized patterns.
If you are primarily looking to expand your moveset, there are other instructors in the Loveland and Castle Rock/Denver areas who we can recommend for that type of instruction.
What You Should Already Know
To get the most out of this class—and to keep the class moving at the intended pace—you should already be comfortable with the following:
Behind-the-back
Right-side pass
Outside turn
Freespin / Slingshot
Cuddle position
Barrel rolls
2–3 basic dips
Most or all of your commonly used moves in all four hand connections:
Left-to-Right — Normal
Right-to-Right — Handshake
Two Hands
Cross Hand
You do not need to be perfect with these concepts. The expectation is that these are familiar enough that we can use them as tools for learning rather than spending class time teaching the mechanics of the moves themselves.
The October Curriculum
Each Monday will progressively build on the previous week.
Week 1 — Structure & Movement
We will build a small pattern to use as our working framework for the month.
From there, we'll begin exploring:
Concepts of movement
How Country Swing patterns are structured
How individual movements connect together
How dancers can make intentional choices within a pattern
The goal is not to leave with a large new moveset. The goal is to start understanding what is happening underneath the moves.
Week 2 — Stretch & Compression
We'll explore how to stretch and compress rhythmic movement through music.
This will focus on how dancers manipulate timing, rhythm, and movement to create variation while working within the same general material.
Week 3 — Connection & Intensity
We'll focus on understanding connection through movement and how connection can be used to change the intensity, speed, and quality of movement.
The emphasis will be on developing greater awareness between partners and learning how changes in connection affect the dance.
Week 4 — Putting It All Together
The final week will bring the concepts together.
We'll revisit the material from the previous three weeks, apply the concepts to our working pattern, and recap the techniques and ideas developed throughout the month.
The goal is to leave the series with tools you can apply to your dancing—not just another pattern to memorize.
Class Structure
6:50 PM — Doors Open
7:05–7:55 PM — First Instructional Section
Focused instruction, demonstrations, drills, and guided exploration.
7:55–8:00 PM — Break
8:00–8:30 PM — Second Instructional Section
Continued instruction and application of the night's concepts.
8:30–9:00 PM — Guided Practice
Dedicated practice time to apply the concepts from class with guidance and direction.
Limited Membership
This trial is intentionally limited to 14 students total:
